Theory of Operation

2B Tech’s ozone monitors measure ozone in air using the well-established technique of UV absorbance at 254 nanometers.  Ozone is measured by comparing the transmission of light through a detection cell with ozone present, and with ozone removed.  The ozone concentration is calculated using the Beer-Lambert Law.

Single-beam models include the 106-L, 202, and POM, while the Model 205, 211, and 211-G are dual-beam ozone instruments that offer the quickest response time and highest precision and baseline stability.

DewLineTM

Eliminate Water Vapor Interference

Our monitors incorporate a unique feature of 2B Tech instruments, the DewLineTM, for elimination of water vapor interferences.  All of our ozone monitors use Hopcalite scrubbers to provide the ozone-free measurement needed for the Beer’s Law calculation of ozone concentration, except for the Model 211 and 211-G which use novel scrubbing methods that provide “interference-free” measurements in highly polluted environments where non-ozone UV absorbing substances could interfere.
