Personal Ozone Monitor (POM)

2B Tech has taken the next step in miniaturization of UV-based ozone monitors by developing the ā€œworld’s smallest ozone analyzer.ā€ The POM is a handheld EPA-certified Federal Equivalent Method (FEM) ozone monitor that utilizes the measurement technique of UV absorption. The instrument is capable of providing highly accurate/precise ozone measurements in a package that is unique to the ambient ozone monitoring market.

  • 0-10 ppm measurement range with 1.5 ppb precision
  • Handheld with battery and GPS
  • EPA designated as a Federal Equivalent Method (FEM) for ozone: EQOA–0815–227.

Overview

  • POM unit has dimensions of 4 x 3 x 1.5 inches and weighs only 0.8 lb/360 g (without battery) or 1.0 lb/450 g (with battery)
  • Built-in GPS so that ozone measurements may be logged continuously along with geographic location
  • Folded “U” shaped optical path, allowing the instrument to achieve the same path length as the Models 106-L, 202, and 205

Case Studies

In this study, the 2B Tech Personal Ozone Monitor (POM) was flown on a drone above Chesapeake Bay, to investigate the chemistry inside the plume of a large freighter at sea. The versatility of the POM was showcased in this work, which also made use of another POM to make complementary measurements at a ground station nearby.

"A very compact, lightweight, rugged and accurate instrument. A great product! A great group of people!"
